Arty Footsteps

03Jun2019

‘Arty Footsteps’ experience is a combination of walking and creativity, which takes place in the beautiful landscape of the Breamish Valley in Northumberland National Park; a location which is guaranteed to inspire you.

Patrick and Jane who run the experience welcomed our tour operators during their familiarisation trip to the UK. Patrick is the walking guide and has an absolute fountain of local knowledge as well as fascinating facts from all over the world. Jane is the professional artist, specialising in wildlife and nature.

The group were delighted with the delicious local food at Ingram CafĂ©, which was the former National Park Visitor Centre; delicacies included local cheese, homemade cakes, open sandwiches, home-made chutneys and scones with jam and cream! These offerings are provided as part of a picnic hamper for people who book on this experience.

We visited the village hall where the art sessions take place in inclement weather, and had the opportunity to see Jane’s beautiful artwork. Everyone participating in this experience receives a bag containing a sketch pad, drawing pencils and watercolour crayons.

The route is a 3.5km walk through the beautiful Breamish Valley. After a little while, we began to ascend a very steep hill leading up to a pre-historic fort, the group stopped halfway up and sat on a stone wall under a tree to sketch the stunning scenery. On reaching the summit, the fort offers absolutely stunning panoramic views of the region; a fabulous place to sit and sketch the vistas.

This experience allows you to reconnect with nature and explore your creative side – both of which are hugely beneficial for health and well-being.
